I have read every diet book...

I have read every diet book in the universe. This is WAY more than that. This is the first book that really is a life changer! I have been on disability for several years now for adrenal fatigue. I am an ‘on the go' type of person and it has been very frustrating. I have read this book, highlighted, dog eared and put sticky tabs all over it. It is packed with outstanding information that really makes sense, Yes, I am one of those people that thought I had to lose weight to get healthy. As Dr Berg says, it's the other way around. When your body gets nutrients it needs and is healthy, you lose weight. I have been following what he said for two weeks now. I have amazing energy. I don't crave food like I did. I never expected such a change so quickly. Ok, I didn't really expect any change, which has been my history with other books. Dr Bergs program works. Buy his book and products with confidence. I like that he isn't all about selling products. He does tell you how to make a Kale shake yourself, however he has gone out of his way to insure his products will work for ‘you.' Dr. Berg's book is the breakthrough on anyone who is seeking the ultimate solution to sincerely losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle without the hype and gimmick. It's very easy to understand. I got so excited and started my journey immediately. Within the first week I lost a total of 7lbs. My body transformed into an amazing healthy body resulting in a daily healthy lifestyle living. You see it's not about the pounds lost it's about getting healthy. I just thought 20lbs for me was cool I could get by and get back into my clothes but for me to be at my optimal goal the getting healthy journey resulted in 45lbs total weight removal and almost 3 years later still maintaining a very successful lifestyle. Thanks so much Dr. Berg for teaching a avid fitness trainer and guru as myself all that training and working out means nothing without having healthy and healed body. Now my son who not only gained the college Freshman 15 lbs which turned into the Freshman 50 lbs has experienced great success with your book, benefiting him to a healthier lifestyle and his college friends too are inspired and getting on track. Dear Dr. Berg,
    ...

    Dear Dr. Berg,

I hope my thank you message gets through to you because I suspect you have hundreds, if not thousands of these emails...

Thank you so much. Your book has totally changed my life.

I have not had a grain of sugar for 12 days and I have been feeling terrific all of this time. Am following your nutrition program closely. I have had all the multiple sclerosis symptoms for the past 3 years and eating mountains of vegetables, but when you said those 1-3 squares of chocolate that I have eaten at bedtime for as long as I can remember, were cancelling all the good daytime nutrition by shutting off the fat burning hormone, this made total sense to me. I stopped that sugar at once and have not looked back because I feel such energy and well-being. On Monday afternoon, I stopped using the cane to walk!

I have had difficulty walking far or fast for 3 years - this is a monumental breakthrough for me as I used to love hiking, walking on the beach... have been strong and active my entire life, and now I know I can get that back.

My husband, son & his wife, daughter & her husband, as well asl several of my friends are buying your book and applying these sane principles.

Thank you for all of your research. Thank you for your helpful presentation and especially for the graph on page 119 - Insulin response to carbs.

This graph totally helps me to understand the basic theory of handling insulin and also how diabetes can be controlled.

My husband is diabetic and his blood sugar has gone from 155 down to 110.

Another thing we appreciate about this eating plan is that we can have fruit to balance the protein, due to the fiber - makes complete sense.

    You are our Renaissance Man.

Thank you so much. (Posted on 7/1/2012)

  7. Review by Nicholas George Christakis
    Hello, my name is Nicholas...

Hello, my name is Nicholas George Christakis, I am 26 years old. The last 3 years, I have put on a lot of weight, due to cultural differences internationally in Greece. I am from Massachusetts, but due to business ventures, I am living in Greece, where superfluous amounts of food, wine and alcohol are prevalent everywhere. Basically you sleep, eat and dream of food and alcohol. By chance, last January on or about the 15, 2012, I goggled fat burning, and on the search Dr. Bergs book came about. I read the preface and title and was curious to learn more. I purchased the book, read it in its entirety, and I was amazed at that the things he was talking about, such as “ insulin, cortisone and many other factors that affect fat burning. It really made sense, like coffee with sugar, how it raises insulin and also causes stress and spikes a rise in cortisone.

By following what I have learned, I went from 125 kilos to 95, and losing about 2 kilos or more a week. It seems my metabolism is in high gear as well as my hormones. In pounds this equates to 275 pounds, 209 pounds, 4 pounds respectively.

I have followed my diet, actually I have become a perfectionist with the nutrient side of the dieting and fat burning, I eat 100 percent as perfect as I can, including the following,

Breakfast: two eggs with fresh vegetables : red bell peppers and Green, also add protein like chicken 1-2 oz.

Afterword snack: Sour apples, peeled orange, Coconut meat two teaspoons, one kiwi, and half tea spoon of cinnamon.

Lunch or dinner, I have a portioned of 5 servings of fresh vegetables, I steam them and combine them with the proper portion size of 3.5 oz of either Chicken, beef, lamb or fish such a salmon or sardines and at time calamari or octopus.

That is what I do every day. I also add nuts and seeds. I eat .2 grams of all seeds and the same for nuts. My seeds and nuts are the following:

Sunflower, flax, Pumpkin, Sesame, Goji Berry, Walnuts, Almonds, Chinese peanuts. (Posted on 6/29/2012)

    For frustrated dieters who...

For frustrated dieters who tried everything under the sun and still not losing anything, please get the book. This book thoroughly explains how our body burn fat or why it does not. I am currently on the program 4 weeks and I've lost 15 lbs. In the past, I would literally starved myself half to death just to lose 1 or 2 miserable lbs! I kept telling my self that is because I'm no longer young and it's the metabolism. I guess I was only half right. After reading the book, I know why and I know how to deal with it.

There are many who commented the program in the book is a little strict and of course anybody will lose weight if they managed to stick to such a strict program. So what is the difference between the program in this book and hundreds of diets plans out there?

I can answer that. Just the big 2.

No. 1. Sustainability - While there are plenty of fad diets out there, how many can you stick through for life? Seriously, can anyone replace their meal with liquids (as with some liquid diets) for the rest of their lives? The plan in the book is workable. It's healthy and you can stick to it for life without fear you are jeopardizing your health.

No.2 Hunger/Cravings - The books says its not the quantity of food, it's the quality that counts. I was skeptical at first. After the first week, I'm convinced. A nutrient densed salad with nuts and a little cheese can quench my hunger much better than a calories ladden double cheese burger with fries! It's the quality of the food nutrients that count in your brain. The book explained if your brains are receiving all the nutrients from good food, they will see no need to send out hunger signals to you. With all the right food, cravings for sweets, chocolates and chips are non-existent. I'm so pleased. I don't think I'll see the day I can pass a piece of chocolate and give it the snub, like I now do.

Whether you are thinking of losing weight (like me) or just want to be informed about your body, this book is a must! (Posted on 2/5/2012)

Eric Berg and I share some...

Eric Berg and I share some similar results from this book, him with his patients and me with myself. Following similar principles, I used to be over 117kgs and am now a competitive bodybuilder representing New Zealand at 85kgs. The accusations fat has from the mainstream media is all crushed and the "so called" healthy wholegrain are given the respect they deserve.

Using the symptoms provided from the book, you can actually "Diagnose" issues you may have had in the past or even in the present. There is the usual disclaimer in the book about diagnosis, however, I believe this to be the most informative book regarding healthy habits and clear but info that makes perfect sense. I recommend this to anyone who is tired of all the fad diets and truly gruesome exercise. Knowledge is power and this book delivers. (Posted on 12/31/2011)

I was loaned this book over...

I was loaned this book over Christmas by a friend. I had to return it today so I read the first 160 pages of it.

I was impressed with how similar the core principles of Eric's philosophy were to what I had adopted after researching health and nutrition for the last 3.5 years. So, we're both on the right tram or horribly wrong. Eric has plenty of testimonials to prove his recommendations work, his logic seems to hold water (pardon the pun) and it explains why people eating one or two of my high calorie nutrition bars a day lose weight.

The one caveat I would make is that the unsugar coated truth is not always palatable. Some will object to Erik's recommendations being too extreme. My answer to that is that you can do what you feel is comfortable or you can do what gets the result you are after. Often they are not the same.

I found so much in it to commend it I am purchasing a few for self and others.

Good luck with your quest for optimal health. (Posted on 12/26/2011)

I am on day 3 and find the liver enhancement diet very telling. I've noticed no more rumbling in my belly after meals. The diet is nothing crazy, just eat lots of organic vegetables, cut out the stuff most of us know is bad. The diet keeps blood sugar low all the time. After being on the diet for only 3 days I have realized just how little vegetables I had in my diet. Will try to stick to the core idea of the diet. Will get off coffee, wine, excess protein... After 2 weeks I hope to report other benefits. Not taking the product peddled by the author. My be good for some but I've also decided that I've had it with all those millions of nutrient supplements being peddled in the stores. Its no substitute for cleaning up ones diet!! I found the book to contain lots of valuable information. It was well written and easy to understand. I was so excited to find a book that addresses the real reason why people do not lose weight and keep it off. Not just another fad diet, but getting to the cause of a persons weight gain and then step by step help to get you on the right path. I lost 4 1/2 lbs. the first week! Plus, I feel great.
